Family Man

family man

… the majority of politicians, on the evidence available to us, are interested not in truth but in power and in the maintenance of that power. To maintain that power it is essential that people remain in ignorance, that they live in ignorance of the truth, even the truth of their own lives.

What surrounds us therefore is a vast tapestry of lies, upon which we feed.

HAROLD PINTER, 1930-2008, from his acceptance speech for the 2005 Nobel Prize in Literature

While we’re still expected to swallow “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” and DOMA. Fuck you and yours, Governor. Act now, Obama.

“I have a thirst for the divine”*

joedallesandro-duane-michals

Every true poem is a spark,
and aspires to the condition of the original fire
Arising out of the emptiness.
It is that same emptiness it wants to reignite.
It is that same engendering it wants to be re-engendered by.**

I used to think the power of words was inexhaustible,
That how we said the world
was how it was, and how it would be.
I used to imagine that word-sway and word-thunder
Would silence the Silence and all that,
That words were the Word,
That language could lead us inexplicably to grace,
As though it were geographical.
I used to think these things when I was young.
                                                                                                   I still do.

‘Power Bottom’ Defined

WARNING: Disturbing truth related to male homosexuality; graphic language

Power bottoms supposedly have skilled tongues. (They give the best blow jobs fellatio and rim jobs analingus.)

This ‘power bottom’ boy would gladly testify (but my experienced tongue and voracious throat are currently enrapt in utter devotion).

I did learn the Dewey Decimal Classification Number for “Men’s underwear” manufactured in cotton.

This, too, is an oak (and a shapely one at that, found deep in the stacks of the forest).

Is!

sunday

And so it befell me that after so many attempts at naming the world, I am able only to repeat, harping on one string, the highest, the unique avowal beyond which no power can attain: I am, she is. Shout, blow the trumpets, make thousands-strong marches, leap, rend your clothing, repeating only: is!
